And that has been released of that Beta is beautiful. Nvizzio, who is developing for Atari, recently had a Beta for their game, Roller Coaster Tycoon World.

One by Atari, who holds the license for the RCT franchise, and one by Frontier Games. This year, two games are slated to hit the market. But the feeling of being a mogul was dissipating. RCT3 included a feature that allowed you to actually ride on the rides you designed. The first games were done in the vein of Sim City, an overhead omniscient builder in control of the fate of an amusement park. But as a player, the experience was different. Now, I can't say for a fact that was what Frontier had in mind. And it's a hard transition going from something that plays on the heartstrings and reminds you of childhood, to becoming something designed exclusively for kids.

The first game in the series was developed by Chris Sawyer and MicroProse, and published by Hasbro. You could create themed lands, exactly like real theme parks. It gave players an opportunity to build their very own theme park, all the way from massive roller coasters right down to the placement of bushes and trees. The first Roller Coaster Tycoon hit shelves in 1999. Themed food, designed stores and buildings, everything. The best theme parks offer an immersive experience for attendees, in addition to great rides. In 2013, Disney theme parks generated $14B in revenue. Magic Kingdom in Florida hosted 19 million people that year. Disney is a master at the theme park game, seeing attendance of 134 million in 2014, to all of its parks around the world.

Six Flags may have the most roller coasters (Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA has 19 alone), but in terms of revenue and attendance they don't even crack the top 25. You may have your favorites, but numbers never lie. Six Flags, Universal Studios, Sea World, and the crown jewel, Disney.

You can also see some of the river rapids ride squeezed in. Travels through hills and tunnels and finishes with a quite boring, drawn-out, helix that I'm disappointed about from a riders point-of-view. You can also see the "beast"-like coaster all throughout the right of the image. Trying to build something like they would in real life, so I'm struggling to figure out what to do with the raised land. The large green space in the center needs to be something, but I'm unsure of what since it is a very large hill. The other large building is the B&M Wing Coaster Station. Top view, the largest building is a dark ride, the log flume indoor section to the left of that, and a small family coaster to the right of it. The "North Station" train station is hidden in the back there! Also very happy with how it fit so great into the space. Just finished building this and am happy how it fit into the terrain perfectly. The only real modern coaster in the park so far. The central river and arrow coaster interacting with the surroundings and creating some nice scenery. You can see the arrow coaster in the background, the train also fits in back there. Never really got in the way with other construction because it's so centralized, and I love the way it turned out.Ī top spin similar to the what used to be Tomb Raider at Kings Dominion.

Going to be fun to make the entrance work with how crammed the area is.Īn old custom arrow through the woods. Want to try and fit a mystic timbers-type wooden coaster in the top left of this image. Space probably available for another coaster to the left. Moving further back in the park, entry to the arrow suspended on the left, and the entrance to the log flume. Had to place some scenery on existing "back stage" buildings to complete the look I wanted from the other side. The back of the mad house ride, with the main show area being the large building to the left. The Mad House dark ride themed to a castle, and the classic Arrow Suspended. This coaster ended up getting in the way later on but I really crammed in some rides in an exciting way because of it. Parking and entrance road, along with the first coaster I built, Comet. Highly recommend picking a terrain from the internet and playing off of it! It made the game extremely fun and I had trouble fitting some things in. I went with a custom terrain created by someone online so I would have the challenge of using terrain that was already in place. Trying to make as realistic a park as I can, let me know what you think! I heavily use the workshop and alter the buildings from there, I can't imagine custom building everything. Been having fun on Planet Coaster, so I figured I show off some pics.
